NSX Multi Hypervisor and NTP

NTP synchronization across controllers and transport nodes is an important part of NSX operation and is covered in the NSX-MH User Guide.

The following linux command ntpdate -q host-to-verify allows you to validate time offset from the host you run the command from…

The following example shows the offset of the three controllers from the jump host I was using in a LAB environment and quickly allows you to validate NTP health across your environment…

In the above example, offsets are -0.49, 0.37 and 0.55 so less than 0.55 between the jump host and controllers, but 0.92 difference between two of the controllers (-0.55 – 0.37).

IMO, this can all be scripted / automated as needed 😉
